The historic Town Hall in Reigate & Banstead is opening its doors to the public as part of Heritage Open Days weekend, which, will be taking place across the borough, between Thursday 9th and Sunday 12th September, offering free access to medieval underground caves, historic listed buildings, museums and churches.

Merstham parents can now submit 2011 school places applications online for local Surrey school.
Parents have until the 31 October 2010 to apply for secondary schools places or until the 15 January 2011 for primary, infant and junior schools places.

Surrey leader pledges one million pounds for roads

Surrey County Council leader Dr Andrew Povey has pledged £1 million towards improving the county’s roads in response to residents’ feedback.
Each of the 11 local committees will be asked how and where the extra money should be spent, enabling residents to influence what improvements are carried out in their communities.

Council triumphs twice in Recycling Awards

Reigate & Banstead emerged from last Thursday’s Achievement in Recycling Awards with two awards, beating off competition from far larger organisations in its bid to have the recycling achievements of local residents recognised in these national awards.
The council won the Recycling Partnership Award, beating Tesco and Cardiff City Council and the Council’s Recycling Officer, Lizzy Jones, also won a Recycling Champion award.

New local Primary School proposed by Surrey Cabinet

Surrey County Council’s Cabinet agree to allocated funds to build a new primary (2-form) , 430 places school in the Redhill / Merstham area and have instructed the Head of Estates Planning and Management, to seek to find and enter into negotiations to acquire a site for a new School.

Have your say on Donyngs improvement plans

Detailed proposals for a £3.4m revamp of Donyngs Recreation Centre in Redhill are on show and the Council is calling on local residents to have their say on the improvement plans as part of a two-week consultation. A display in Donyngs’ foyer shows the new layout for the centre, artist’s impressions of the proposed new facilities and information about the refurbishment programme, along with feedback forms so customers can give their views.
