Sounds like a somewhat short-sighted comment to me, and slightly misguided for two reasons. Firstly, to make the water a suitable temperature for someone of pensionable age would make it prohibitively hot for anyone younger attempting any form of fitness swimming. Pool temperature will always be a compromise, and as the majority of people who use Donyngs are of the younger age group (which I'm guessing are the ones you're so eloquently calling 'fitness freaks'), it would make sense to cater more to their requirements than those older.

Secondly, Reigate & Banstead (who are funding the redevelopment work) have nothing whatsoever to do with filling in potholes - that's the job of Surrey County Council.

Shock value has limited effect and this poster is disgusting. I agree that something more hard-hitting needs to be used but suggest that the little girl reaching for the dog waste would hit the point home hard enough. There is enough revolting imagery in the media already. Nothing will work for some dog owners but for those who have any sense of responsibility perhaps this will be sufficient reminder, particularly if they have children of their own. Dog bins must be emptied regularly, especially in hot weather, and I think there probably need to be more of them, located nearby normal rubbish bins, to make it more convenient for dog owners.

Whilst any extra money towards fixing our appalling roads is welcome, there is a considerable issue with the way the council manages their priorities. For the last 2 years Delabore road has been in a state of disrepair, my neighbours and I have reported this via the council website on several occasions and despite saying they agree and that work has been commissioned nothing gets done, instead other roads in significantly better condition such as Orpin road and Manor road are repaired, I can only assume that council officials don't have to use Delabore Road much.

As a resident of Station Road North my journey to work often begins and ends in frustration and annoyance, as I am continually forced to dodge parked/abandoned (some of these vehicles can not be deemed "parked", combined with the complete disregard the station users have for speed limits in their endeavour to catch their trains or return home in the shortest time possible.

I therefore welcome option 1, particularly as it will curtail the behaviour of the motorists to park right on top of the junction with Station Road North. Moreover, I really do hope that the council gived due considers not making this a free facility, but installs parking meters for these bays. By making the bays free would deter people from utlising either the car-park at the station itself, or other parking enterprises in the area.

If a fee of £2.50 a day were payable, for 50 parking bays, this could attract annual revenues that would easy cover the cost of the project in year 1 and provide additional revenues in future years to invest in the local community.

I'm not particularly motivated to try it. I have some experience of these things at a national level, but the burning issue for me (and my street of perhaps 15 houses) that concerns the County is one of residents' permit parking. Even if I were to take the trouble to get 100% of those affected to sign up, it would still represent a very small number. What confidence can I have that anyone would pay any attention to it?

I agree with all of the above. I find it staggering that in the 6 years that I have been a resident, that nothing has changed. Added to that, the constant flow of pigeon faeces splatted over the footway and road, it makes for a really unpleasant duck and dodge when walking under the bridge 3 to 4 times a day. Just noticed the missing piece of guttering from above on the bridge laying in the road yesterday, that should be interesting when it rains. Who is responsible for the pigeon pooh? Network rail. Do they realise that our kids are walking that straight into school in the morning?? I will pester them about this. Keep up the good work, it really matters!

Hi Graeme
I have seen the parking proposals to do with a23 yellows line and cycle lane. Yellow lines would do for the bridge I guess but would not stop commuters parking out side my house. It would just mean more would park in the side roads and I would end up having to park somewhere and get the bus home :)well lets hope its not that bad. anyway gl

Hi Rob,

The County Council have put together some proposals to bring in parking restrictions around Merstham. There is a story about it on this site.
The proposals have to go before the Surrey County Council Local committee for agreement before they can be implemented.
Resident parking schemes have not been included in this review but forms a seperate piece of work Cllr Brunt and I are looking at.

Thats good but can you deal with the commuter parking issue around Merstham station and local roads. Just put some signs up saying no parking between 9am-10am and 2pm-3pm. Issue loacals with a bag or pass for the 2 hour no parking. I have wrote to zully about this so can you bring it up at next meeting as you guys are so slow at getting things moving.
Thanks
