Surrey Police is developing new plans to put large numbers of frontline police officers on our streets, focused on tackling vital issues such as anti-social behaviour and organised crime gangs. Surrey County Council will be looking to secure a new contract to improve the county’s highways for residents, following a Cabinet decision.
For the last six years Ringway and Carillion have been working on behalf of the council to maintain and improve roads throughout the county, under the Surrey Highways Partnership. Following a tendering process the successful bidder will begin operating under a brand new contract, from April 2011.

Rocky Lane in Merstham is closed for one day to enable British Telecom to erect a telegraph pole. These works are anticipated to be complete within one day of the one-month period of operation of the Order, which commences on 4th December 2009. The closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Police officers from Reigate and Banstead’s Safer Neighbourhood Team have increased patrols in Merstham to deter people from causing criminal damage. The move comes after a large granite urn had been removed from a grave and thrown into a bush and other graveside ornaments were damaged.Full Story »
