Council staff are continuing to work hard, in difficult icy conditions to clear the backlog of Refuse & Recycling that has built up. Many residents have not had a collection since before Christmas. Today staff have focused their energies on the hilly and more difficult to reach parts of the borough where it has not been possible to collect for some time. By using four wheel drive tractors supporting refuse freighters and deploying refuse and sweeping staff the have managed to clear some 95% of Netherne on the Hill and much of Kingswood and Woodmansterne. Staff will return tomorrow using the same approach to try and clear other roads which have not previously been collected, the Merstham area has been identified as an area of priority as it has not had a collection since before Christmas.
If you still haven’t had a collection
For residents that have still not had a collection, please leave your refuse wheeled bin out for collection and this will be collected as soon as it is possible given the conditions. Subject to weather conditions staff will be carrying out collections on Saturday 9 January.

Due to the length of time since the last collection (December 22nd in my road, Nutfield Rd) and that fact that Christmas generates more rubbish and recycling materials than usual – can we be assured that everything will be taken, including additional bags that will not fit in the already crammed bins?
The crews will take all the domestic waste that you put out, including any bin bags that you can not fit into your normal wheelie bin.
