Following the disruption to refuse and recycling collections caused by the recent bad weather over the last few weeks, council staff are expecting to have collections back to normal this week.
As from Monday 18 January the council will be resuming normal refuse, recycling and garden waste collections as well as the collection of Christmas trees.
For those Merstham residents that did not receive a collection last week, these properties will be prioritised this week, please ensure your bins are out by 6am.
If your bins have still not been collected please contact me, Cllr.Brunt@Reigate-Banstead.gov.uk

Should it be 3 cheers – we finally had a collection today (Wed 20 Jan), the first in over a month? Or questions as to why it took so long? And why, when we had to resort to taking the accumulated excess to the Redhill recyling ourselves, was it shut during advertised opening times? This really was not good enough. Do our collectors still expect tips?
Nigel the conditions over the last few weeks I think most would agree have been exceptional, 3 periods of heavy snow at a time of the year when collections are normally disrupted due to the Christmas and new year holidays. It also seemed that the weather had grudge against Merstham, it always seemed to snow on our collection days.
It has taken time for the teams to catch up with the backlog, but I am not sure this could have been done faster given the conditions. The understanding of local people like yourself has been appreciated, were any lessons for the future can be learned, local councillors will make sure they are.
I can explain why the site at Earlswood was shut when you visited it, I can ask Surrey County Council.
Finally with regards to tipping of the guys that empty your bins, their “Christmas Box” as it was known, please don’t!
