Cllr Graeme Crome – re-elected Merstham Ward Councillor
I would like to take the opportunity to give my thanks to my family, friends, neighbours and community of Merstham for all their support and votes. Their support has enable me to be re-elected to represent them for another 4 years on Reigate & Banstead Borough Council.
I was very pleased so meet so many people last Thursday, many of whom had to queue to get in to the polling stations in Merstham. The turnout was fantastic (over 66%) and it was very encouraging to see so many people taking the time to cast their vote.
It is clear to me that the residents of Merstham are passionate about where they live and I join them in that passion.
There is clearly much to do and I hope the community will join me in my campaign to ‘Keep Merstham Clean’ in asking dog owners to clean up after their dogs.
I have also started talks with Surrey County Council to bring much needed improvements to the crossing on Bletchingley Road.
These are just two of the many important issues that I am working on and I will be spending the years ahead working tirelessly for the people of Merstham.
I would finally like to express my thanks to my Agent, Carol Poulter and to Cllrs Mark and Lisa Brunt, along with the members of the Merstham Branch of the Conservative Association for supporting my campaign.
A full list of the election results is available here.

Hi Rob,
The County Council have put together some proposals to bring in parking restrictions around Merstham. There is a story about it on this site.
The proposals have to go before the Surrey County Council Local committee for agreement before they can be implemented.
Resident parking schemes have not been included in this review but forms a seperate piece of work Cllr Brunt and I are looking at.
Hi Graeme
well lets hope its not that bad. anyway gl
I have seen the parking proposals to do with a23 yellows line and cycle lane. Yellow lines would do for the bridge I guess but would not stop commuters parking out side my house. It would just mean more would park in the side roads and I would end up having to park somewhere and get the bus home
Rob
Thats good but can you deal with the commuter parking issue around Merstham station and local roads. Just put some signs up saying no parking between 9am-10am and 2pm-3pm. Issue loacals with a bag or pass for the 2 hour no parking. I have wrote to zully about this so can you bring it up at next meeting as you guys are so slow at getting things moving.
Thanks
