Council issues warning about fraudulent council tax calls

Merstham residents are being urged to be on their guard after Tandridge District Council warned its residents about a council tax scam, after one of its residents was called by someone claiming to be from the Council Tax Team and asking for their bank account details. The caller told the resident they were entitled to a council tax refund.

Police Appeal following Merstham distraction burglary

Merstham police are appealing for witnesses following distraction burglary at an elderly lady’s house in Merstham. The incident happened at 4.40pm on, Saturday, 1 May, when the a man posing as a plumber told the 81-year-old victim he needed to check the taps and water supply to prevent her neighbour’s property from flooding.
