Councillors call for planning decisions to be kept local

Councillors are being asked for their views on the Government’s proposals for a central Infrastructure Planning Committee (IPC), that would take away current local planning powers to decide on large infrastructure projects in their area such as new runways, railways, roads or power stations.

£65,000 for local youth projects up for grabs

Reigate & Banstead Youth Council (RBYC) is calling on the borough’s young people to bid for a share of £65,000 to help fund activities and projects that will benefit other young people in their community.
The money, allocated by the government, is to enable young people to have a greater choice and influence over provision and facilities in their local community, particularly those who are ‘disadvantaged’.

Cut CO2 by replacing your old boiler under new scrappage scheme

On Tuesday 5th January the scheme which had been announced in December’s Pre-Budget Report was officially launched by Government. The scheme is aimed at encouraging households to upgrade their heating systems to cut carbon, save money on fuel bills and sustain work for the heating industry.
Under the scheme, residents can receive a £400 discount on a new boiler if their existing one meets the criteria set out in the scheme.
