Council commits additional investment to the Harlequin, despite opposition

Reigate & Banstead Council approved nearly £400,000 additional investment in the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill, despite strong opposition from Residents’ Association and Green Anti Cuts councillors who supported a motion to freeze the budget.

New local Primary School proposed by Surrey Cabinet

Surrey County Council’s Cabinet agree to allocated funds to build a new primary (2-form) , 430 places school in the Redhill / Merstham area and have instructed the Head of Estates Planning and Management, to seek to find and enter into negotiations to acquire a site for a new School.

Have your say on Donyngs improvement plans

Detailed proposals for a £3.4m revamp of Donyngs Recreation Centre in Redhill are on show and the Council is calling on local residents to have their say on the improvement plans as part of a two-week consultation. A display in Donyngs’ foyer shows the new layout for the centre, artist’s impressions of the proposed new facilities and information about the refurbishment programme, along with feedback forms so customers can give their views.

Get up with the larks to hear early morning birdsong

Merstham residents are invited to join Reigate and Banstead’s countryside rangers to hear in the Dawn Chorus on Redhill Common on Sunday 21st March. Ideal for early birds, an “introduction to the dawn chorus for beginners” gives people a chance to listen to the early morning birdsong and learn to identify which song belongs to which bird.
