Merstham refuse collection – 1st Dec Update

Latest reports from Reigate & Banstead Borough Council are that they intend to operate a full refuse collection service in the Merstham area tomorrow. Residents are asked to put out their bins for collection as usual. This service may still be subject to local conditions and their may still be difficulty’s reaching certain properties.

Disruption to Council severe during winter weather

With the spread of snowy and icy conditions in Merstham and across the borough, Reigate & Banstead Borough Council has published advice on likely impacts to its services.
The page on its website covers disruption to refuse collection, closed buildings and other alterations to services in the event of snow or freezing weather. Refuse and Recycling collections to get back to normal

Following the disruption to refuse and recycling collections caused by the recent bad weather over the last few, council staff are planning to have collections back to normal this week.
As from Monday 18 January the council will be resuming normal refuse, recycling and garden waste collections as well as the collection of Christmas trees.

Refuse and Recycling collections – Wed 13th Jan update

Today (Wed 13th), due to the weather conditions all refuse and recycling collections have been suspended.

Council staff are continuing to work hard, in difficult icy conditions to clear the backlog of Refuse & Recycling that has built up. It is recognised that many Merstham residents still may not have had a collection since before Christmas.

Delayed Refuse & Recycling collections – Update (7th Jan)

Council staff are continuing to work hard, in difficult icy conditions to clear the backlog of Refuse & Recycling that has built up. Many residents have not had a collection since before Christmas. Today staff have focused their energies on the hilly and more difficult to reach parts of the borough where it has not been possible to collect for some time.
Staff will return tomorrow using the same approach to try and clear other roads which have not previously been collected, the Merstham area has been identified as an area of priority as it has not had a collection since before Christmas.Subject to weather collection staff will be carrying out collections on Saturday 9 January.

Snow, cold weather disruption to refuse collections

Due to the large amount of snow that has fallen in Merstham over night and more snow anticipated today (Wednesday 6th) there is likely to be disruption to refuse and recycling collections today. The councils advice is to leave your bin out if it is not collected and they will continue to attempt to collect it as soon as possible. So is best if the bins are left out.
