Mersthams 3 ward councillors are working on a project for the Crossways Gardens to enhance the environment for the residents of South Merstham.

The proposal is to re-instate the oval path that ran round the gardens and to also formalise the existing diagonal pathway, this would provide a better all weather pathway for residents to use.
The project would also re-instate some rose beds that we have been informed used to be in the gardens along with some seating for people to sit and enjoy the environment.

Works would also be carried out on the existing retaining wall as this is in a poor state of repair.

An interpretation board is also being looked at as a way of brining the history of the area alive for those who visit the gardens.

The project is estimated to cost in the region of £50,000. However this money is not available from the council.
The money for this project will be sort from grant funding and would therefore not be at a cost to residents.

If grant funding is found then we will be ensuring that local residents will be consulted on this project to gain there input and support and we very much hope as many residents as possible will get involved
