Bristol based planning inspectorate have today allowed a planning appeal on the former button factory in Old Mill Lane despite local concern about road safety and the effect on the conservation area. As a result of this decision a green light has now been given for the development of 3 properties on this site.
Many in the community will now feel that this decision will now give the green light to developers to look for even more for opportunities to create infill developments within this important area, leading to even more parking problems and the destruction of the whole character of this area.
Cllr Brunt "I am really disappointed with this decision as I feel that it sends a signal that the character of an area isn't important and that residents real concerns about parking and road safety can be dismissed. I have worked with local residents on this application and felt that the reasons on which the application was refused by the council were very sound, I am not sure now where this leaves us with any other future applications in this area now that an inspector has allowed this application to go ahead."
