Further to the article in the September 13th edition of the Surrey Mirror concerning the Merstham Regeneration project.

I was concerned to read that the two residents featured felt that they were not able to get in touch with their local councillors in Merstham.

During the past year many residents have got in contact with my colleagues and I about various local issues including the regeneration project, something we are more than happy to discuss. We believe that it is very important to our role as councillors that residents feel they can contact us whenever they have a question or issue and we are always looking for new ways to make this easier.

To help with this we run open surgerys on the first Saturday of each month, held at St Teresa's Church Hall, Weldon Way from
10-noon (publicised in the Help Shop and notice board on Portland Drive).

Our contact details are also posted on local notice boards and in the Helpshop.

We have also recently set up a website (www.mersthamcouncillors.co.uk) to give up to date information on things happening in Merstham and around the borough - we can also be found on social networking website Facebook.

Residents can use these sites to make comments, ask questions, start a debate or send us an e-mail.

Communication with residents can always be improved and we are always looking for new ways to do this.

We would encourage residents to get in touch as good two-way communication is the only true way we can work together to make a real difference.
